Workplace Stress and Trauma Informed Care

The US Department of Health and Human Services, Office on Women’s Health is offering a webinar, Workplace Stress and Trauma Informed Care. The session will take place July 30th at 2pm CT. Dr. Sandra Bloom will be the featured speaker. It’s part of the ongoing series, The Impact of Trauma on Women and Girls Across the Lifespan. Details: Sandra L. Bloom, M.D. is a Board-Certified psychiatrist, Associate Professor of Health Management and Policy and Co-Director of the Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice at the School of Public Health of Drexel University in Philadelphia. Dr. Bloom is the founder of the Sanctuary Institute, Distinguished Fellow at the Andrus Children’s Center and a Past-President of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She is author of Creating Sanctuary: Toward the Evolution of Sane Societies and co-author of Bearing Witness: Violence and Collective Responsibility. Her latest book, co-authored by Andrus Children’s Center C.O.O. Brian Farragher and titled Destroying Sanctuary: The Crisis in Human Service Delivery was published by Oxford University Press in 2010 and will be followed by Restoring Sanctuary: Transform Your Organization and Change the World in 2013.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants should be able to describe some significant workplace stressors in social service and mental health environments
2. Participants should be able to discuss some ways in which groups respond to chronic stress
3. Participants should be able to describe key aspects of organizational change
