Just Detention International is hosting a webinar, Understanding the Issue: An Overview of Sexual Abuse in Prison. The session will be held November 14th from 11-12:30 PST.
From the site:
In this webinar from JDI, advocates will gain a better understanding of the crisis of sexual violence in prison – and learn how they can help inmates who have survived this abuse. The session will provide a summary of the new opportunities for expanding services behind bars resulting from the recently issued Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) national standards. The standards require that prisons provide inmates who report sexual abuse with access to victim advocates. They also mandate that corrections agencies partner with community-based organizations to ensure comprehensive medical and mental health care for survivors.
The webinar will provide an overview of sexual abuse in detention that addresses the prevalence of this violence, including the high rates of staff abuse; the factors that contribute to prisoner rape; and its long-term, often devastating impact on the lives of survivors. The webinar will also feature conversations with two members of JDI’s Survivor Council to provide first-hand accounts of their experiences of sexual abuse in prison. The training will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

I couldn’t find this webinar on the website. I navigated all around and found an October webinar but not this one. Any suggestions.
