I’m teaching today in Wichita–another advanced testimony workshop. It’s the last training of the busy spring season. After this I come off the road a bit. I get to slow down and enjoy the fact that my kid is in DC for the summer (as of Saturday–happy birthday to me!) I take only one significant travel job each month during summers, so while I will have plenty to occupy my time (as if), I will be doing it from the comfort of my tiny DC dollhouse by and large.

The Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP) is pleased to announce a webinar on trauma-informed care for intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors and how it applies to military-related survivors. What is trauma-informed care and how does it affect the work we do with IPV survivors? What are the consequences if we don’t have a trauma-informed approach to the services we provide? Dr. Warshaw will provide a basic overview of trauma-informed care and why it is important when intervening with IPV survivors. Dr. Kelly and Ms. Hallum will then discuss how the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of the Army Family Advocacy Program approach trauma-informed care for IPV survivors.
